Great Highland Bagpipe

The pipe of Scotland, with a long and colourful history.

Complete Great Highland Bagpipe in African Blackwood with lemonwood mounts and black velvet bag cover
African Blackwood with lemonwood mounts

I make each set to order, turning and finishing it by hand in the wood and mounts you choose.

A full set comes ready to play, with drones, chanter, blowpipe, bag, bag cover, tassels and chanter cap. If you already have a chanter you love, you can order the drones on their own; they come with reeds, blowpipe and chanter stock.

Most of the cost of a set is my time at the lathe rather than the wood itself, so the list price covers most combinations. African Blackwood is the traditional choice, and I can turn the mounts from lemonwood, pink ivory or another wood to suit. There's more on how the wood shapes the sound on the woods and mounts page.
